ASL Holds Second Annual Student Orientation Week (SOW 2006)

American Studies, Leipzig. 18 October 2006.

American Studies Leipzig has held its second annual Student Orientation Week (SOW). The goals of SOW 2006 were to introduce students to the new BA Program in American Studies, to allow students to get to know each other, and to acquaint the incoming BA Class of 2006 to the broader American Studies Community in Leipzig. Events were held over a period of three days.

American Studies Leipzig Launches New Website

American Studies Leipzig has launched a new website as part of its transition to the era of BA and MA Degrees inspired by the Bologna Process of the European Union.

The website seeks to engage prospective students in Germany, Europe, and internationally who are considering the possibilities to study at one of Central Europe's oldest and most distinguished universities and in one of Germany’s leading American Studies Programs with a strong and unique profile.

American Studies Leipzig Student Orientation Week 2006

American Studies will hold during 10-12 October its second annual orientation program. The American Studies Orientation Week is meant to introduce new students to what is involved with pursuing a degree in American Studies, to help students organize their studies for the coming semester (and beyond), and to introduce new students to the broader American Studies Community in Leipzig.

Study Tour 2006 leaves for Houston

Led by Professor Hartmut Keil a group of 14 students have started out on a study tour to the City of Houston. You can find more information on this study tour in our section on Field Research. Please also note that the group is having a blog online.

The 2006/07 Fulbright-Leipzig Chair for American Studies

Professor Charles Johanningsmeier from the University of Nebraska-Omaha has been awarded the Fulbright-Leipzig Chair for American Studies for the 2006-2007 academic year. The Fulbright-Leipzig Chair was awarded to the University in Leipzig in 2003 by the German Fulbright Commission for a period of five years.
