Dr. Anja Eifert worked her last full day at the Institute for American Studies at Leipzig on Thursday, 9 February. Her replacement will be available as of 1 April. Her successor will take over as coordinator of international studies services at the institute, and will teach courses
in the SHP series of courses.
Dr. Eifert has been an outstanding contributor to the excellence of the institute. She will be very much missed. She is moving on to pursue other opportunities.

On January 31, Prof. Crister S. Garrett, was asked to fact check statements made by guests of the ARD talk show hart aber fair.
Hart aber fair is a talk show where moderator Frank Plasberg discusses current topics of public interest with guests from politics, economics and the society. Together with SWP’s Laura von Daniels, expert on transatlantic trade relations, Prof. Garrett fact checked the recent hart aber fair episode.
On January 31, Prof. Crister S. Garrett, was interview by Kirsten Gerhard from the Tagesschau.
The repeat exam for the LC I lecture will take place on April 11, 2017 from 9 - 11 am in NSG room 202.

Since its founding in 2001, the Geneva-based company has been providing over 60 corporations with reputation research, benchmarks, and ESG data visualization tools and has been praised for its innovative stance on ratings and reputation research. Covalence is always looking for interns to join their ethical information analysis team, which allows interns to improve their IT-skills and learn about issues related to sustainable development and corporate social responsibility. Covalence offers in-house as well as distant internship positions, which can be conducted from home. There is not a set duration, and the internship can be part time (20h/week) or fulltime (35h/week). The position is unpaid.
Welthungerhilfe is one of the major and respected private organizations in development cooperation and humanitarian aid in Germany. It carries out projects in 39 countries and campaigns publically for fairer cooperation with developing countries. Currently, Welthungerhilfe is looking for a communications intern for their office in Monrovia, Liberia, which includes frequent travels to project sites in the country. The internship lasts for a maximum of six months. Welthungerhilfe will provide accommodation on sight and pay a monthly allowance of 200€.
