Leipzig University Library Awarded Title "Library of the Year 2017"

The Leipzig University Library has been awarded the title of "Library of the Year 2017." The award, awarded by the Germany Library Union (dbv) and the German Telekom Foundation, includes 20,000 Euros in prize money. "Our University Library honestly earned this award through hard work," stated Leipzig University Rektor  Beate Schücking.

In his interview, Professor Garrett addressed the controversy of Trump's decision that essentially goes against 70% of the US' population, as well as an overwhelming majority of American businesses that wish to remain a part of the Paris Climate Agreement.

Picador Professor Tom Drury Discusses and Reads from His Novels

On May 2, current Picador Professor Tom Drury read a selection from his extensive 'Midwest trilogy' encompassing his novels The End of VandalismHunts in Dreams, and his most recent book, Pacific. The reading was held at the Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst, in cooperation with Klett-Cotta and the Holtzbrinck Veranstaltungsforum. The reading saw up to 50 guests in attendance and was moderated by the director of the Institute for American Studies at Leipzig University, Prof. Crister S.

The English Academic Writing Lab will be offering writing consultations for English and four workshops during the Long Night Against Procrastination on Thursday, March 2. 

The Long Night Against Procrastination will be held at the Albertina Library from 8pm to midnight, during which you can visit the writing consultations for English. Additionally, the 4 workshops offered are as follows:

Punctuation: Traffic Signals to Guide Your Reader, 9:30–10 pm (Café Alibi)

Dr. Anja Eifert Departs from American Studies Leipzig

Dr. Anja Eifert worked her last full day at the Institute for American Studies at Leipzig on Thursday, 9 February. Her replacement will be available as of 1 April. Her successor will take over as coordinator of international studies services at the institute, and will teach courses
in the SHP series of courses.

Dr. Eifert has been an outstanding contributor to the excellence of the institute. She will be very much missed. She is moving on to pursue other opportunities.
