 Paid Communications Internship, Idealist.org, New York City

Idealist is one of the world’s preeminent nonprofit web sites, connecting more than 100,000 nonprofits worldwide with more than a million people each month through tens of thousands of job listings, internships, volunteer opportunities, and events. In 2015, Idealist is launching its global Ecosystem for Positive Action—a powerful and interactive collection of digital and on-the-ground tools empowering people everywhere to make a difference.

Idealist is looking for a motivated Communications Intern who shares the nonprofit’s vision and wants to see it succeed. The internship is paid and will last from July to October or December 2015 (4 – 6 months) at 20 – 30 hours per week.

Tasks:

You'll provide logistics and communications support to the entire Communications team with a focus on:

  • Idealist Grad Fairs - conducting outreach and marketing to the 10 cities across the US that make up the 2015 Idealist Grad Fair season (Sept 22 - Oct 26). Specific tasks include: researching host cities, local/national organizations and influencers; market and media outreach; and evaluating analytics.
  • Idealist Mission / Vision Work - assist the Communications team with ongoing projects in video production, social media, public relations, and writing and research.

Requirements:

  • Highly-motivated and detail-oriented individual
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple to-do’s at the same time
