 Development Team Internship with International Crisis Group, Brussels

The International Crisis Group is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to preventing and resolving deadly conflict. Crisis Group’s analysts are drawn mostly from experienced former diplomats, journalists, academics and NGO staff, often leading world experts in their areas. Their reports and briefing papers go to tens of thousands of targeted recipients (including government ministers, heads of international agencies, diplomats and officials in key roles, and journalists) as well as to the more than 200,000 subscribers who request specific types of mailings online.

Crisis Group is seeking a full-time intern to assist its Development/Fundraising Department from January 12 to July 12, 2015. The intern will provide daily support to staff of the Government and Foundation Relations team in the Brussels Headquarters.

Tasks:

  • Assisting the Development Team in prospect research, briefing notes, grant proposals and grant reports and day-to-day grant management
  • Support the development of communication materials for donors
  • General administrative support, which includes enhancing and maintaining donor filing systems, and support to the team as requested.

Requirements:

  • Willingness to do a variety of tasks, including administrative work
  • A recent undergraduate or post-graduate degree
  • Previous internship or work experience
  • Excellent organizational skills to simultaneously keep track of various assignments
  • Ability to be flexible and work well independently, under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Fluency in verbal and written English and French or German
  • Ability to draft briefs, reports and summarize text
  • Possession of an EU passport, student visa or other means of working in Belgium without work permit sponsorship from Crisis Group
