 Conference Internship with NCSE, Washington, D.C.

The National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the scientific basis for environmental decision-making.

NCSE specializes in programs that foster collaboration between diverse institutions and individuals creating and using environmental knowledge. While an advocate for science and its use, the group does not take positions on environmental issues. With a reputation for objectivity and non-partisanship, NCSE is able to provide a neutral forum for all.

NCSE seeks a conference intern for its 15th National Conference on Science, Policy and the Environment to take place January 27-29, 2015 in Crystal City, Virginia. The full-time internship is paid and will last from December 29, 2014 to February 13, 2015.

Tasks:

  • Coordinate email campaigns to recruit conference volunteers
  • Arrange and participate in conference calls with session leaders
  • Utilize online forums as well as listservs to publicize volunteer opportunities
  • Maintain spreadsheet with volunteer information
  • Assist with training for individuals who will be taking notes during the conference breakout sessions
  • Onsite logistical support during conference
  • Help with various post-conference duties as they arise
  • Etc.

Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Excellent web and computer skills
  • Meeting planning & meeting logistical experience
